RKEY,RKEYThe AT/LT section between Arlington and Manchester offers a host of possibilities for both day hikers and backpackers, with two gems in the middle: Stratton Mountain and Stratton Pond. It's a good trip in either direction. An historical note: A short distance east of the AT/LT parking lot on Arlington - West Wardsboro Road is the Daniel Webster Monument, ray ban aviator 3025, marking the spot where in 1840 the great orator (at this point US Senator from New Hampshire) spoke to a crowd of 1600 at a Whig (conservative) Party rally, chanel lunettes. The issues: business (protective tariffs) and ethics (slavery).

We're a Scout Troop from southern Mass, ray ban wayfarer. Our first winter backpacking trek, going north along the AT/LT over Mt,burberry sale. Stratton, lunette oakley pas cher, down the other side to the Stratton Pond Shelter.
It was cold 0-5 with 20 mph winds, lunette chanel 5171, and around 6" of snow at the shelter 1'+ at the summit, lunette oakley solde. Bring good sleeping pads, the bunks plywood sheets,Burberry online. The sun went down at 5:30pm and didn't come up for around 12 hours,Are you wondering what to write on a card to someone who has,http://oakleypascher.over-blog.com,http://lunettes-de-soleil.webnode.fr.,occhiali ray ban,2013 the style The ATLT section between Arlington. It made for a long night, ray ban aviator. But the trails were well marked, chanel pas cher, tough at times, lunettes carrera, lunette oakley cyclisme, and easy at other times. A great first winter hike, oakley pas cher.
We followed the Statton Pond trail rather that the Stratton Mountain trail because we had 2 beginners with us. Stratton Pond trail is very level, easy walking, with puncheons over all the wet spots. While I found the trail itself somewhat boring,Africa is a large continent of many contrasts burberry-espan,http://oakleypascher.over-blog.com,http://lunettes-de-soleil.webnode.fr., the pond (a small lake in my opinion) was great. Clear cool water, great tenting spaces, and a very amiable caretaker made it a great trip. The shelter was also quite nice,2013 the style The ATLT section between Arlington, although we didn't sleep there. Plan to spend some time swimming and fishing in the pond, and just generally lounging around with your feet in the water. The caretaker said the springs were not up to par because of the lack of rain, but I found them to be quite adequate (I filtered and chlorinated it). Everyone we spoke to said the Stratton Mountain trail was very nice, but moderately challenging, and either going out via the mountain trail and returning via the pond trail or vice versa would make a nice 2 day loop with the pond trail day being short (perhaps a good Friday evening hike with Sat. on the mountain trail?). My beginners just weren't up to tackling the mountain. |
